Green Initiatives
Excellent Meat strives to do what is right for our planet and people with our green initiatives in water, energy and waste to ensure we leave a legacy for generations to come.
Our Social and Ethics Committee (SEC)
The SEC of Excellent Meat was formally established in 2024 as a committee of the Board, in accordance with section 72(4) of the Companies Act, 2008 and Regulation 43 of the Companies Regulations. The Committee operates under a Board-approved Terms of Reference, which defines its mandate, authority, composition, and operating procedures.
The SEC is responsible for monitoring and overseeing the Group’s performance and conduct in relation to:
- Social and economic development,
- Organisational ethics,
- Good corporate citizenship,
- Environmental sustainability,
- Health and safety,
- Consumer relationships,
- and labour and employment practices.
In executing its responsibilities, the Committee supports the Board in promoting ethical and effective leadership, stakeholder inclusivity, sustainable value creation, and responsible corporate citizenship, consistent with the principles and outcomes contained in the King V report.

We are aware that, although meat is the most naturally occurring, well balanced and easily obtained package of proteins, it weighs heavily on the planet. For this reason we join the worldwide effort in our search for “environmentally friendly” meat, by supporting those livestock traders who are focused on sustainable farming.
Our focus is on creating sustainable industrial processes and eco-friendly factories through our Green Initiatives.
We are committed to investing in new technologies to continually reduce our carbon footprint; and make green adjustments along the supply chain by changing the way we buy.
UN Sustainability Development Goals
Excellent Meat is committed to promoting sustainability and aligning its operations with the United Nations Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs). The company recognizes the crucial role it plays in creating a more sustainable future and is dedicated to reducing its carbon footprint, promoting ethical practices, and preserving the environment.
In line with this, Excellent Meat has set a bold target of producing net-zero carbon emissions by 2040. We are working towards this goal through our Excellent Green Initiatives which include reducing energy and water consumption, investing in renewable energy sources, as well as promoting sustainable economic growth through fair and production employment practices, to mention but a few.
With our commitment to sustainability, we hope to set a positive example that inspires others within the industry to take similar steps towards change.
